Popular decentralized exchange, Sushiswap has launched its generation perpetual exchange, Susa. In a blog post, the protocol confirmed the launch, describing the project as a hyper-performant Layer 2 network of custom and optimized rollups.

The project will combine the technological concepts of Layer N with that of the DeFi community behind one of the top decentralized exchange on Ethereum. In addition, the project will also bridge the gap in decentralized derivatives trading. Moving forward, Susa will leverage Layer N’s Nord Engine so as to process over 100,000 transactions per second with latency periods under 1 millisecond.

According to Sushi’s exec, Jared Grey, the exchange wants to fully embrace the powers of decentralized finance (DeFi) by mixing its expertise with Layer N to develop superior products. Grey added that the Layer N modular approach to rollups provides greater capital efficiency and deeper liquidity while leveraging the security of Ethereum.

According to Grey, Layer N technological approach aligns perfectly with the modular network strategy gaining traction in the DeFi space. With Susa, the exec believes Sushi will capture the untapped market of perpetual trading, stressing that the development of the project further signifies the exchange’s commitment to innovations.

Layer N to empower Susa to function efficiently

Layer N will empower Susa to leverage the StateNet architecture and also allow developers to build custom applications including simple smart contracts and built-out rollups on the exchange.

Similarly, the CEO of Layer N, Dima Romanov commended Sushi for standing out as a core DeFi protocol for years. Romanov remains optimistic that Susa will evolve to become one of the largest perpetual exchanges in decentralized space.

Last year, Sushiswap partnered with ThunderCore, a layer one Blockchain firm to drive sustainable growth in the DeFi ecosystem. As revealed, both firm collaborated to launch a fee-boosting model. This model was developed in order to explore the long-term sustainability models between decentralized exchanges and blockchains. In addition, Sushi also incorporated its products into ThunderCore Blockchain ecosystem.

Also in 2023, the exchange also launched studios, a brand licensing and incubator solution. As revealed, Studios was developed so that external product teams can further access the Sushi brand.
