Coca-Cola partners Polygon to launch NFT collectible

Global soft drink brand, Coca-cola has collaborated with Polygon to launch its generative NFT collectible. Polygon confirmed the development in a Twitter post on its verified handle. Reportedly, Coca-Cola made the move to commemorate the 2022 International Friendship day across the globe.

According to reports, the brand first airdropped the collectible last week to its loyal fans and clients. As revealed, the airdrop became granted exclusively to fans who followed Coca-cola through its journey to the metaverse and the current holders of the brand’s previous collections.

Notably, the new collectible manifested with a distinctive “share-to-reveal function”. This paves the way for artwork to become revealed only after being shared with a friend. Now, holders of the collectible tends to enjoy varieties of benefits. One of such is that it gives them access to perks and rewards, like Coke Studio-powered experiences, gaming events. Additionally, it avail early access to Coca-Cola Creations limited-edition product launches.

According to Coca-cola, it intends to sustain its exploration in the metaverse throughout 2022. The brand announced its plan to also commemorate the imminent Halloween in October and International Singles Day in November.

Coca-cola further that a 3D avatar firm, Tafi, designed the collectible. Notably, Tafi runs by specializing in 3D arts and technologies. Over time, it enjoyed numerous collaborations with Samsung, Louis Moinet, Champion, Warner Bros and a host of others.

Also, it reaffirms the readiness to continuously learn in the space by unveiling numerous limited-edition collectibles. According to Coca-cola, the collectibles will always be tied to commemorate vital cultural feasts. This, according to the brand, tends to foster the building of its digital ecosystem, thereby exciting the fans.

Since 2021, Coca-cola has created over 4,000 virtual collectibles. The brand began with the 2021 International Friendship Day via a “loot box” auction. Reportedly, this move greatly benefitted Special Olympics International. Subsequently, Coca-cola unveiled another limited-edition virtual collectibles to mark International Burger Day. It replicated the same thing during International pride day. As revealed, the brand partnered with South African-based fashion designer, LGBTQIA, and a host of others to achieve the feat.

Polygon network, in recent times, also engaged in a series of partnerships to aid its operations. Recently, the protocol collaborated with a subsidiary of Mercedes Benz, Daimler South East Asia, to launch a blockchain-based data sharing platform. Its native token, MATIC currently trade at $0.9193455. Additionally, it enjoys a current market cap of $7.39B USD and 24-hour trading volume of $249.22M USD.
