Animoca Brands and Coincheck have extended their partnership in a bid to effectively promote Web 3.0 games in Japan. According to a blog post today by Animoca Brands, Coincheck will pick up the “role of distribution and community development in the Japanese market.” Meanwhile, with the collaboration, the Web 3.0 giant will provide intellectual property and contents.
Further, Coincheck is expected to support projects from Animoca brands and other firms relating to it. Coincheck will offer this assistance via its marketplace while helping to strengthen Animoca Brands’ ecosystem. Before now, Coincheck has listed two NFT projects belonging to the Web3 giant on its NFT marketplace. These projects are Land NFTs from The Sandbox and Otherdeed NFTs from Otherside.
The collaboration between the two organizations has been in existence since 2020. With Coincheck contributing heavily to the promotion of projects from Web3 giant. Around March 2021, Coincheck flagged its NFT marketplace, early this year, the firm initiated its metaverse project in The Sandbox. As revealed, the project is a Metaverse City known as Oasis TOKYO, and Coincheck has partnered with artists, celebrities, and other brands on the Metaverse City.
Currently, the firm is working on availing Oasis TOKYO to the general public very soon. Also, Coincheck attempted to extend its metaverse initiative to Otherside. In May 2022, Coincheck procured Otherdeeds and began the development of Oasis MARS.
Reaction from top officials of Animoca Brands and Coincheck
However, the latest development has attracted the attention of top officials from Animoca Brands and Coincheck. The Co-Founder and Chairman of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, expressed his excitement in the collaboration. Yat Siu described it as a privilege to deliver more premium NFT, metaverse, and gaming projects in Japan. Additionally, the chairman highlighted the importance of partnering with Coincheck while expressing Animoca Brands’ willingness to work with the firm in the nearest future.
Likewise, the Managing Executive Officer and the lead of New Web 3.0 businesses of Coincheck Kensuke Amo reacted to the initiative. Kensuke Amo “We are very pleased to be working with Animoca Brands, a leading company in the NFT industry, to advance mass adoption based on the trust we have built up over the years.” Amo heaped praises on GameFi projects by Animoca Brands. The Managing Executive Officer disclosed that there are hopes that the initiative would bridge the Japanese market for NFTs to enhance the Web3 sector.
