Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer has revealed a strategic investment in Juventus Football Club (“Juve”), by acquiring a minority stake in the club. The digital asset company confirmed the development in a blog post today.
According to the post, the strategic investment marks a significant milestone for Tether. With over 400 million users across the globe, Tether is strategically entering the sporting industry, opening doors to more significant growth and development. As revealed, the stablecoin issuer is also leading the digital asset industry with a market capitalization of 140 billion USD.
Through the acquisition of a minority stake in Juventus, Tether hopes to deliver sport-digital asset synergy at a new level. The stablecoin issuer is also exploring opportunities to integrate its digital assets, payments and newly acquired AI and biotech expertise into the sports industry. In addition, the company is focused on assembling a top-tier advisory team for this initiative.
Meanwhile, the CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino noted that the firm will explore avenues for innovative collaborations and revolutionize the global sports landscape. He added that Tether will pioneer the merging of new technologies with the well-established sports industry to drive change globally.
Tether partners with key sport executive
Over time, Tether has collaborated with various leading figures in the sporting industry. It partnered with Juan Sartorial, sport exec as a result of his involvement with Sunderland AFC, AS Monaco Football Club, and the European Club Association.
In 2024, Tether partnered with FC Lugano, a professional football club that competes in the Swiss Super League. As revealed, the partnership through Tether initiative, Plan ₿ resulted in the stablecoin issuer becoming the official sole kit sponsor of FC Lugano. This collaboration further underscores the firm’s dedication to promoting blockchain technology and stablecoin adoption in the mainstream sectors.
However, it is worth noting that the collaboration with Tether is just one of the several partnerships Juventus club has undergone in the past years. In 2023, Juventus partnered with socios to increase the catalog of benefits and experiences to be redeemed by its fans. Last year, the football club also welcomed Zondacrypto as its official crypto exchange partner.
