Popular digital asset infrastructure provider for financial institutions, Ripple has partnered with Chipper Cash, a renowned payment provider in Africa to facilitate crypto cross-border payment. The payment infrastructure provider confirmed the development in a blog post today, stating that the partnership will enhance cross-border payment by leveraging Ripple Payment to offer faster, cheaper, and more efficient digital assets transactions.
According to the post, Chipper Cash plans to utilize Ripple’s crypto-enabled payment solutions to deliver top-notch payment services to its five million customers across nine countries in Africa. With this, African customers can now send and receive funds 24/7/365 around the globe, reducing difficulties and making transactions more efficient.
Meanwhile, the managing director of Ripple Middle East and Africa region, Reece Merrick has reacted to the partnership. He revealed Ripple’s excitement to expand its offering and bring crypto-enabled payments solutions to its partners in Africa. Merrick added that Ripple’s partnership with Chipper Cash also signifies a milestone in Ripple’s effort to expand its operations to Africa.
The director also added that as customers and businesses across the region continue to recognize the potential of blockchain technologies, more institutions like Chipper Cash will continue to tap into its transformative power to drive efficiency and innovation. He added that Ripple aim to bring fiat currencies on-chain to simplify international money transfers.
Similarly, the Co-founder and CEO of Chipper Cash, Ham Serunjogi also reacted to the partnership. The CEO noted that crypto-enabled payment has the potential to foster greater financial inclusion, accelerate access to global markets, and empower businesses and individuals across the region. He added that Chipper Cash is excited to leverage Ripple blockchain technology to provide customers with fast and efficient transactions at lower costs.
Ripple becomes the first to secure DFSA license
However, it is worth noting that this development comes barely two weeks after Ripple became the first blockchain-enabled payment provider to secure a DFSA license in Dubai. As revealed, the payment infrastructure provider secured a Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) license to offer crypto-related services in the Dubai International Finance Centre (DFIC).
