Cosmos blockchain has completed the launching of the Eureka upgrade that will link the network’s inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol with Ethereum. In an announcement released on Thursday, Cosmos described Eureka as an interoperability layer that will enhance exposure to the Ethereum ecosystem.

The network described how the new upgrade has propelled the IBC from an ecosystem standard to a universal interoperability protocol. As revealed, the development will see apps within the Cosmos ecosystem become usable for more users from the Ethereum network.

By expanding Cosmos to Ethereum, Eureka promises native interoperability between the two ecosystems. Thanks to these features, individuals won’t have to rely on bridges and other third-party solutions to move assets across Cosmos and Ethereum.

The network narrated how in the past, third-party solutions for interoperability often caused asset and user fragmentation. As a result of the upgrade, developers can easily build multichain solutions across various networks without splitting their user base.

Further, Cosmos said the move will further project the blockchain network as a hot hub for multi-chain solutions. Providing insight into the Eureka upgrade, the blockchain hinted that the solution depends on a distribution zone that permits developers to access the IBC ecosystem without third-party tools.

However, Cosmos over the years has continued to push its mission of becoming the internet of blockchain.

Side Note on Cosmos

Recently, allegations emanated that a part of the Cosmos ecosystem was developed by the infamous North Korean hacker syndicate, Lazarus Group. Reports suggested that the syndicate contributed to the development of the Liquid Stacking Module (LSM).

The claims attracted the attention of Cosmos co-founder, Ethan Buchman who denied that the project team knew about the situation. Additionally, the allegations triggered two major audits to identify potential vulnerabilities.

One of the audits by Informal System suggested a phased removal of the LSM, replacing it with a new framework. The suggested framework would differentiate governance from block production. This system allows users to delegate block production to a particular validator, while assigning governance votes to a separate one.

In 2023, Binbits reported that Cosmos launched Neutron to enhance security for decentralized solutions on the network. In the report, the network narrated that the move will further advance the presence of the layer 1 network in the DeFi space.
