Decentralized exchange and decentralized finance platform, dYdX has acquired Pocket Protector, a renowned and highly talented team of builders who created a premier social-first perps and Solana spot trading experience. The founder and CEO of dYdX, Antonio Juliano confirmed the acquisition in a blog post on Friday.
As part of the development, the trading platform also onboarded Pocket Protector’s founders Eddie Zhang and Kaiser Kinbote as the president and head of growth respectively, alongside their four-person engineering team. Sharing more insight into the acquisition, Antonio described Eddie Zang as one of the best operators and most driven founders he has ever known. He pointed out Eddie’s strong product instinct, track record of execution, and ability to zoom between strategy and details.

Prior to joining the trading platform, Eddie engaged in various ventures including building consumer social at scale and launching companies from scratch. He also knows what it entails to build and ship fast, making him an invaluable leader in the next growth-focused phase of dYdX.
The dYdX CEO also described Eddie’s partner, Kaiser as an equally impressive and deeply crypto-native operator who understands growth, community, and where the space is going. Antonio believes that both Eddie and Kaiser possess the kind of zeal and experience needed on the team.
Going further, dYdX founder added that the acquisition of Pocket Protector will help his team do what people trust and believe in. According to him, Eddie will take charge of the team’s daily execution and drive the broader product and go-to-market strategy. Kaiser on the other hand will focus on growth, bring clarity, and push the team to operate faster and smarter.
Similarly, their team will also be integrated into the dYdX engineering and product organisations. It is worth noting that the integration begins with bringing part of Pocket Protector’s Telegram bot functionality into the trading platform. Antonio added that with this acquisition, dYdX is now heading into its next chapter focused on growth, execution, and product expansion.
