The Fédération Internationale de Football Association, FIFA has partnered with blockchain platform, Avalanche to launch its own Layer1 blockchain on Avalanche. In a blog post today, Avalanche described the launch as a pivotal step in FIFA’s evolving Web3 strategy.
The launch of the L1 on AVAX signifies a significant shift in the football body’s approach to blockchain development. As revealed, the FIFA Blockchain is a custom Layer1 network, designed to deliver digital collectibles, and next-generation fan engagement at a global scale.
FIFA’s launching of its own L1 is aimed at streamlining operations, optimizing user experience, and delivering consistent, interoperable digital products to its fan base. The decision further reflects the growing demand for verifiable digital ownership and direct engagement between holders and their global audiences.
Notably, the Avalanche framework makes it possible for the deployment of sovereign networks like L1, optimized for high throughput, low latency, and full governance. As revealed, this networks operate independently while remaining fully interoperable with both the broader Avalanche ecosystem and the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) standard.
FIFA Blockchain launches on FIFA Collect
In addition, the FIFA Blockchain also sets the foundation for a new suite of digital products. The first of these product is migration of the federation’s official digital collectibles platform, FIFA Collect.
